Terms
Last updated 29 October 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses Bunklore: hostels that run the game, players who join it, and hostels that connect to the Bunklore network. By using Bunklore you agree to them.
1. The game
Bunklore is a social game for hostel common rooms. Each hostel's book is built from what its players add. The game, its design, questions, artwork and code belong to Bunklore and are protected by copyright.
A hostel may use Bunklore on its own premises for its guests. It may not copy, sell, share or change the game, or offer it to other businesses, without our written permission.
2. Playing
Bunklore is meant to be friendly. When you play, please:
- be kind about the people in the room and their countries;
- only add photos or clips of people who have agreed to it;
- not add anything abusive, hateful, sexual, threatening or unlawful;
- not share private details about other people.
Hostel staff may remove anything from their book at any time.
3. Golden pages and prizes
Golden pages are free to win. There is nothing to buy and no stake of any kind. Prizes are chosen and given by the hostel, not by Bunklore. The hostel decides what it offers and how a prize is claimed, and is responsible for honouring it. Prizes have no cash value unless the hostel says otherwise.
Offers and discounts shown in Bunklore are written and given by the hostel, not by Bunklore. The hostel sets their terms and is responsible for honouring them.
4. Free gifts
Gifts offered through Bunklore are provided free, as they are. They are hosted on separate websites with their own terms. Reflective or self-development courses are for personal interest only and are not a substitute for professional advice.
5. The Bunklore network
Joining the network is optional and is done by the hostel. By joining, the hostel agrees that its name, town and map position will be shown to other hostels on the network.
Letters across the map are for players aged 18 and over. They carry words only. They may not contain links, email addresses, social media names, phone numbers or any other way to contact someone. We may refuse, remove or stop delivering any letter, and may remove a hostel from the network if these terms are broken.
If a letter you receive seems wrong, use "Report this letter" and we will review it.
Weather forecasts come from MET Norway and are shown as they are. Forecasts can be wrong, so please check before planning anything that depends on the weather.
The network is offered as it is. It may sometimes be unavailable, and we may change or end it. If it ends, the game keeps working on the hostel's own computer.
Postcards from the road
Travellers who have left a hostel may send short postcards back to its book. The same rules as letters apply: words only, with no links, email addresses, social media names, phone numbers or other contact details, and nothing abusive. The hostel reads each postcard and decides whether it goes into its book. We may refuse any postcard, and a hostel can turn postcards off at any time.
6. The hostel's responsibilities
The hostel is responsible for the computer Bunklore runs on, for who can use it, for keeping backups of its book, and for handling the information in its book lawfully, including requests from guests to remove what they added.
7. Our responsibility
Bunklore is provided as it is, without promises that it will be free of errors or always available. We are not responsible for content added by players or hostels, for prizes, for gift websites run by others, or for loss of a hostel's book. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use Bunklore after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
